What to feed? or What not to feed!

WHAT DO WE FEED OUR DOGS?

Our puppies are started on "Blue Buffalo's Wilderness puppy" and transitioned onto Blue Buffalo WILDERNESS Salmon. We chose this food because it's has 4X the omega 3 from a bio available source (FISH OIL, it's not just good for people!) then any other brand. The first thing you will notice when you start feeding this food is LESS GAS!, the other noticeable benefit is less shedding and a very soft, full, hair coat. Puppies under 6 months of age should be feed 3 smaller meals a day. 6 to 12 month olds can beHappy dogs fed 2 meals a day and over 1 year old can be fed once a day. I prefer to feed the adult dogs in the morning so they have the calories and the energy during the daytime which is the time they need it most. Feeding adult dogs late at night will only lead to obesity. I like to make meal time really an enjoyable time for my dogs by adding 1 small medalion of a complete raw diet Natures Variety to 1/2-3/4 cup of dry. "Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon" or a little warm water. The warm water helps release the aroma from the kibble and that stimulate their senses. The puppies are fed the same way in the morning then at noon I offer them access to just dry kibble. If they are under 6 months old they will get a small meal at 5.00 pm prepared the same way as the morning meal. The most affordable grain free dry food on the market today is "Taste of the Wild . This is a very good product that we have used for years with great success. I prefer to use the Salmon because it has a single protein source and the protein count is just 25%. That is an acceptable number for most stages of development. During rapid growth or times of physical stress, i.e., working, showing, breeding, you might consider using the WILD FOWL or the BISON and VENISON formula. They are a blend of protein sources that raise the count up to 32%. If you are concerned about the Mercury levels in the fish being used then please consider feeding any of the Acana or Orijen products. They are a grain free food from a company in Canada. All the ingredients are regionally grown and raised. The protein sources come from FREE RANGE, Antibiotic and Hormone free animals and WILD CAUGHT fish. Canada doesn't have the Mercury levels in their water. Expect to pay a premium price for this food.

A word about EVO!!!!! Innova and Evo have been purchased by Proctor and Gamble. Not wanting to support this company we can no longer recommend this food.

Go RAW (we prefer Natures Variety) and Go GRAIN FREE and watch your dogs not just survive but THRIVE!!!!!!

You are what you eat, good health starts in utero and grows from the inside out. We like to say garbage in, means garbage out. We also practice what we preach! I don't tell you to feed the best while I'm cutting corners and feed crap! Our dogs are raised on quality food, and good health care practices. I have a working relationship with my veterinarians and I'm not afraid to spend money on my dogs to insure they have a healthy, happy and long lived life.
